Getting Caught – And Eating the Evidence

When crime is weird, wild or just plain ridiculous, you'll find it in OMG PD.

High Fiber Diet: Ingesting Counterfeit Money

A man is accused of using funny money at the Marshalls in Milford to buy about $90 worth of merchandise. When police closed in on the suspect, he tried eating the counterfeit money. It was all for naught, as he was still charged with charged with forgery and an additional count of tampering with evidence.

A Sticky Situation

A man was arrested in Fairfield for shoplifting from a Stop & Shop grocery store. Police say the suspect stole $154 worth of gum and nothing else

Condo Crime

A North Haven man is accused of ripping off condo associations in West Haven and Meriden to the tune of $100,000. According to police, the suspect was contracted to handle insurance claims for the associations, but kept the insurance money for himself.

Angry Birds in Stratford

Some Stratford residents are upset about a new town ordinance that bans bird feeders on private property. "It may be a bad winter for birds in Stratford this year if this ordinance as written is allowed to stand," John O'Leary told Stratford Patch.

Burger King Burgled

An armed gunman robbed a Burger King in Hamden in the early morning on Tuesday. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and hasn’t been found yet.

'Tis the Season

There's been a rash of stolen packages reported in Branford. The crooks are allegedly grabbing them from porches left unattended.

Unintended Theft

A construction crew had $550 worth of stones stolen from a baseball field in Stratford, and the suspect says she didn't even know it was a crime. Police say that woman drove by the site  "every day and thought it was OK" to take 50 pieces of granite.

Some of these are hysterical! How dumb could that woman be who didn't realize making off with 50 pieces of granite from a construction site was a crime. I also love the guy who tried to eat the counterfeit money. That is one for Jay Leno's Headlines segment.
