North Haven Budget Passes With Low Turnout

Voters say yes to the $85.1 million budget that's expected to include no tax hikes.

People in North Haven - or at least the small percentage who came out to vote in the referendum - approved the 2012-13 budget by a large majority.

On a rainy Tuesday, 755 said yes and 180 voted no. Voter turnout was a mere 6.2 percent.

The Board of Finance meets on May 23 to formally determine the tax rate, which is expected to remain 26.54. A home assessed at $300,000 would owe $7,962 in taxes.
