The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund recently honored North Haven-based H. Pearce Company, a residential and commercial real estate firm, for taking advantage of its Small Business Energy Advantage program. As a result, H. Pearce earned an ENERGY STAR® award for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection and was presented an incentive amount of $3,935.85 for its various measures.
Working alongside the Energy Efficiency Fund, the United Illuminating Company (UI) and PTE Energy, a leading energy efficiency contractor, H. Pearce upgraded its older incandescent and T-12 fluorescent lighting to higher efficiency compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) and T-8 technology. This resulted in a decrease in costs and energy as well as a reduction in its carbon footprint. Additionally, the upgrade provided a dramatic improvement to the quality of lighting in H. Pearce’s facility. With these energy efficient improvements, H. Pearce will be saving approximately 20,395 kilowatt-hours (kWh) or $3,263.00 per year.
