Rotary: Strategic Account Manager Sings, Serves Supper

North Haven Rotary member Deana Morin — owner and operator of a new business, Zest Catering & Event Planning — recently took to the club's podium to share an overview of her background and interests.

Since Rotary clubs meet every week, and a program is part of the agenda, it is common practice to call upon newer members to take the podium and share something about their past.

With this in mind, Deana Morin gave a brief overview of her background recently.

Inducted last fall, Morin grew up in Branford and moved to North Haven in 1999 with her husband, Ryan, and their new baby boy, Nick.

Having worked in electronics distribution for 23 years, she is presently employed by Future Electronics in Cheshire as a Strategic Account Manager.

To help her eliminate stress in her life, Morin said that she has begun to take voice lessons from a fellow Rotarian, Mary Minotti, a co-owner of the Music Center of North Haven.

Her teacher pointed out that the fledgling vocalist demonstrated real talent during the Town Recreation Center’s annual holiday show this past December.

In fact, several Rotary members who were present had high praise for her talent on the stage.

Claiming to have a love of cooking in her genes, she recently opened Zest Catering & Event Planning which she owns and operates part time.

The new member of the service club added, “I feel strongly about the hunger issues in our community, and therefore hope to become more involved with the Food Bank of North Haven as well as the CT Food Bank.”

In fact, she has prepared food for several of the Community Suppers at St. John’s Church which have been sponsored by the Rotary club once a month since last fall.

When asked why she joined Rotary she replied, “I joined Rotary to become more involved with my community, because Rotary does so many great things for so many people collectively, and I wanted to be part of that.”
