Three North Haven Students Awarded 2014 Dunkin' Donuts Scholarships

Dunkin’ Donuts provides $50,000 in school funding to local students

(July 23, 2014) – The Connecticut Dunkin’ Donuts Franchisees awarded $1,000 scholarships to North Haven students, Alessandro Cavaliere, Allison Carroll, and Nichole Ciccarelli. The award was part of the 2014 Dunkin’ Donuts Connecticut Franchisee Scholarship Program that provided a total of $50,000 in local scholarships to fifty deserving high school seniors.

The franchisees honored the scholarship recipients at an awards ceremony held at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford. To cap off the event, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman was on hand to deliver a keynote address to the students.

This is the tenth year that Dunkin’ Donuts has administered what has become a very successful scholarship program in Connecticut. “At Dunkin’ Donuts we are committed to the communities we serve. As a local institution and active community partner, we want to encourage educational achievement in every way possible,” said Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee Michael Batista, who also addressed the students at the event.

The students were selected for the scholarship on the basis of a well-rounded character, including a positive academic record, and demonstrated leadership in school and community activities.  The competition was extremely rigid with over 3,000 Connecticut students applying for the fifty, $1,000 scholarships offered by the Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees.
