Fairgrounds Secured for CT Irish Festival

Damaged buildings have been fenced off, organizers report.

After a weekend of hard work at the North Haven Fairgrounds, the CT Irish Festival will go ahead as planned.

Last week, Building Official Elio Floriano disclosed that three damaged buildings on the grounds were in violation of code, and would need to be demolished or secured before the festival could take place.

According to James J. McGuinness, the CT Irish Festival Chairman, the North Haven Fair Association constructed chain link security fences around the structures in question over the weekend.

The Festival, scheduled to begin this Saturday at 11:00 a.m., will feature a broad range of musical guests, dancing, crafts, and contests.

Also appearing at the event will be popular meteorologist Geoff Fox from WTIC-FOX-CT. Fox will hold a meet-and-greet with fans Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Fairgrounds.
