Freda: Milling, Paving of Town Roads Continue for Next Two Weeks

More than 30 town roads will be milled and paved this spring. Wondering if yours is among them? We've got the town's list.

The following is a press release from the North Haven First Selectman's Office.

First Selectman Michael J. Freda announced today that the Town of North Haven's Department of Public Works (the “Department”) in conjunction with the State of Connecticut's successful bidders will commence milling and paving operations on thirty-three (33) Town roadways this month.

Milling, to be conducted by Costello Industries, will occur the week of April 29th and will continue for up to two weeks.

Paving, to be completed by Tilcon Connecticut, is scheduled to commence the week of May 13th and continue through June 13th.

It is estimated that the entire project will be completed over two months.

The project cost includes approximately $155,000 for milling and $1,500,000 for paving.

Project costs shall be funded through the Town of North Haven's Capital Bonding Program for Milling and Paving as approved by the residents in 2012.

Town roadways to be milled and paved in April, May and June, respectively include:

Angel Place from South Avenue to Cottontail; Beach Street Extension; Centerbrook Road from Clintonville Road to St. John Street; Chapel Hill Road from sachem to Clintonville Road; Clark Avenue from Montowese Avenue to Eaton Street; Cindy Lane; Corey Road; Coventry Circle from Bradley Street to Lawncrest; Cromwell Road; Defco Park Road (portion); Del Avenue (portion); Fawn Ridge Road; Gail Drive; High Lane from Ridge Road to Town line; Jansen Drive from Dixwell to Falcon Crest; Larson Drive from Pool Road to Fallon Drive; Larson drive Extension from Fallon drive to Larson; Linsley Street; Melillo Circle; Melissa Drive; mountain Brook Road; Peter's Court; Revere Road; Sentinel Hill Road; Shaw Drive from South Avenue to Tennyson; Sheffield Road; Skiff Street from State Street to Hartford Turnpike AND Whitney Avenue to Leona; South Avenue from Ezra to Cottontail; Stanford Lane; Vincent Road from Quinnipiac Avenue to Rock Road; Virginia Road from South Avenue to Tennyson; Warner Road from Longview Drive to Town line; Woodland Avenue from Pool Road to Howe Street.

“As many residents are aware, the Town of North Haven has been actively identifying areas for infrastructure improvements along with the SCRCOG and while the paving of roadways continues to be a Town-wide concern, it is a critical focus of this Administration.” Freda stated. “State of Connecticut Town Aide Road funds continue to be reduced and Towns such as North Haven are forced to balance the needs of it's infrastructure with available funding alternatives such as Town initiated Capital Bonding programs.”

Freda added. “Public Works staff have been working very closely with the BETA Engineering Group in an effort to identify areas in Town, which require milling and paving improvements.”

Public Works Director Lynn Sadosky stated. “Additionally, the North Haven Police Department through it's Traffic Division will supply officers for traffic control purposes during the duration of the project.” Sadosky added.
