Knights of Columbus Honor Longtime Local Members at 'Recognition Night'

The North Haven chapter of the Knights of Columbus recently held their annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner where they recognized members who had 25 and 50 years of membership.

The following is a press release from the North Haven Knights of Colombus.

Fr. James F. Donaher Council #3733 Knights of Columbus held their annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner and member recognition night on March 14.

Members that attained 25 and 50 years of membership were recognized.

The North Haven council was founded in 1953. In honor of their 60th anniversary a special award was presented by Grand Knight Nathan Vestal to Past Grand Knight Raymond Landry.

Ray is one of the founding members of Council 3733 and has remained an active member in the council for all 60 years of its existence.

He has served as Grand Knight as well as recording secretary many times. He serves on the board of directors of the North Haven Columbus Club, which is the business arm of the council. He is the long time treasurer of the club.

Ray is a long time resident of North Haven where he raised his family with his late wife Margorie. His son Raymond was in town visiting so attended the dinner with his father.

The special award was a surprise to both of them.

The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 in New Haven CT as a fraternal benefit society.

The organization now has more than 1.8 million members worldwide. Last year, Knights donated more than $158 million and 70 million hours to charitable causes.
