North Haven Citizens to be Honored for Service

North Haven Community Service Awards Dinner scheduled for February 25.

Three North Haven residents will be presented with community service awards next Saturday, February 25, at a special dinner held at the Hamden Elks Lodge on School Street. 

Daniel Riccio, Jr. the Welfare Administrator for the Town, and nine-year Commander of the American Legion North Haven Post #76, will be named Citizen of the Year.

Active in a host of local philanthropic and community projects, Riccio will serve as co-chairman for this year's Memorial Day Parade and Columbus Day Parade, and has been awarded the Emanuelson Individual Legionnaire Award, the Paul Kelley award for Outstanding Community Service, and the Richard Anderson Award for Americanism, among other distinctions.

Detective Jason R. Janosko, an eleven-year veteran of the North Haven Police Department and the force's leader in arrests, will receive the Police Officer of the Year Award.

Janosko lives with his family in West Haven.

Timothy J. Mayer, Captain of the West Ridge Volunteer Fire Company 3, will be honored as Firefighter of the Year. Part of the Department for ten years, Mayer is a state certified Fire Instructor, Firefighter 1 and 2, Fire Officer 1, Safety Officer, and Hazmat Technician.

He lives in Hamden with his wife. 

The awards dinner is open to the public, with tickets costing $20 per person.
