North Haven Town Budget Vote Scheduled for May 21

During next month's referendum, residents will be asked to vote on a proposed $86,851,307 town budget for the upcoming 2013-14 fiscal year.

North Haven voters will have a chance to cast their ballot on the proposed $86,851,307 town budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year during the upcoming town-wide referendum May 21.

Annual Town Meeting

The annual town meeting has been set for May 13, at North Haven High School, starting at 7 p.m.

At that meeting, however, voters are expected to approve adjourning the budget vote to a referendum May 21.

Ballot Question

The question on the budget referendum will be worded as follows:

"Shall the Town of North Haven, in accordance with the recommendations of the Board of Finance, approve and adopt a budget consisting of $46,970,908 for the Board of Education and $39,880,399 for the Town Government, for a total amount of $86,851,307 for the fiscal year July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014?"

Residents in favor of the proposed budget will vote "Yes." And those against the budget will vote "No."

Absentee Ballots

Registered voters who will not be in town on May 21, but who still wish to vote can obtain an absentee ballot from the Town Clerk's Office.
