Budget Passes in Referendum Vote

Only eight percent of registered voters came to out to vote in Tuesday's budget referendum, but it did pass.

The town's Registrars of voters announced that the North Haven budget for fiscal 2013-2014 has successful passed in the May 21 referendum vote. 

Voting on the total budget (one question on the ballot) was as follows and includes absentee votes:

"Yes" votes - 669
"No" votes - 573

The registrar said that 8 percent of registered voters came out to vote. 

The $86.85 million budget, which includes both the town and school budgets, will take effect July 1, 2013.
