34 People Laid Off At North Haven’s Covidien Plant

The layoffs came just after the town approved the expansion of the North Haven plant.

Early this week, Covidien – a healthcare products producer – announced it had laid off 34 people from its plant in North Haven.

The New Haven Register reports that a company spokesman said the layoffs were the result of “the need to drive efficiencies and optimize our operations structure.” Meanwhile, Covidien recently got approval from the town to expand its plant at the intersection of Middletown Avenue and McDermott Road, according to the newspaper.
