Court Date Set in Adult Video Controversy

Matter will be brought before New Haven Superior Court.

The next development in one business' controversial plan to bring viewing booths to an adult video store on Universal Drive will take place October 11 in New Haven Superior Court.

Dennis Loring, the proprietor of the store, was barred from opening his business in 2005 by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Claiming that the viewing booths were an integral part of the business, he subsequently filed a claim in New Haven Superior Court and won.

the Commission agreed to settle litigation with Loring, allowing the video store to open as proposed.

“They were very heated and it was hotly contested,” Giulietti said after the meeting. “It was not something that went through quietly and there was a lot of attention to it. But we lost 3-2 at the Supreme Court and we have to abide by their decision.”

Now, the Honorable Thomas J. Corradino is expected to approve the settlement during the October 11 session. A copy of the notice is available here.
