'Dr Mel' Gives Farewell Forecast Thursday
Legendary meteorologist Dr. Mel Goldstein will share favorite memories from his decades on air at WTNH during special News 8 broadcast.
Dr. Mel Goldstein is a legend in Connecticut television broadcasting.
And the beloved News 8 weatherman — and — will be sharing his memories from his many years on air during a special "farewell forecast" this Thursday, according to a blog post on the News 8 website.
"I’ll have the great privilege to be alongside Dr. Mel for the entire hour and a half broadcast,"News 8 anchor Keith Kountz wrote in his post. "So, in addition to hearing his farewell forecast, Dr. Mel will also get the chance to talk about his best memories from his many years here at News 8."

Kountz added that if area views "have great memories of watching Dr. Mel we would certainly love to hear them for our special."
Goldstein officially announced his retirement from News 8 in August.

At that time, the meteorologists told East Haven Patch that he didn’t want to retire, but he had to because of his health.
He has been treated for nearly 16 years for multiple myeloma, a form of bone cancer that affects the body’s immune system.
