Retire Your Old U.S. Flag Properly

Guertin and Guertin, LLC Collecting Flags During June
for Proper Retirement

In honor of Flag Day on June 14th, Guertin and Guertin, LLC will be collecting old and unusable American flags for proper disposal during the month of June. Old or unusable flags cannot simply be thrown out with the trash. The U.S. Flag Code is very specific about how to "retire" a flag that is no longer usable. The Senate.gov website states: "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

Guertin and Guertin, LLC invites the public to bring their old and unusable American flags to their offices located in the historic Center Fire House at 26 Broadway in North Haven. All flags will be turned over to the proper authorities for official retirement.

If you have an American flag that is unwanted or unserviceable, please drop it off any weekday (Monday thru Friday) between 10 and 3 during the month of June. No appointment is needed. For more information, please call Guertin and Guertin, LLC at 203-234-7400.
