Award Recognizes High Ethics, Integrity and Academic Accomplishments

Connecticut Better Business Bureau is calling for entries for its 2013 Student Ethics Scholarship Award.

The winner of the annual event will receive $2,500 to help with education-related expenses at an accredited college or university in the United States.

The annual award recognizes a high school student in his or her junior year, who personifies high ethical standards in a number of areas, ranging from community service to leadership, personal values and overall academic history.

“The entrants must be able to articulate the essence of ethical values and judgment, not only as to how they apply in an academic environment, but also in society as a whole,” according to Connecticut Better Business Bureau President, Paulette Scarpetti.

A selection committee comprised of members of the business and academic communities will select the award winner based on entrants’ leadership skills, contributions to their communities and schools, personal integrity, academic accomplishments and a written essay.

Students may download entry criteria and an application package through a link in the lower right side in the “Announcements” section of Connecticut BBB home page at www.ct.bbb.org.  The application deadline is Friday, June 28, 2013.

The scholarship may be used for paying school-related expenses, such as tuition, books, room and board.  Applicants must be Connecticut residents and plan to attend an accredited institution in the United States.

The Student Ethics Scholarship Award will be presented at Better Business Bureau’s Awards Banquet and Annual Meeting, November 14, 2013.
