North Haven Pastor Addresses Rotary Club

Local minister with a sense of humor addressed the North Haven Rotary Club.

Volunteering to substitute for a speaker who was ill, Pastor Dan Darling of the North Haven Bible Church, recently told the local Rotary club that, as of this October, he will have served as the pastor of the church on Mill Road for three years. Labeling the community, “a great little town,” he indicated that he has joined the Chamber of Commerce and participated in various parades, as well as other activities, in order to become integrated into the town and to meet more of its people. Stating that he appreciates what the Rotary Club does for the town and its citizens, he emphasized that “Rotary’s involvement with young people is great.” As he described some of his personal interests, the special guest mentioned that he supports all of the professional sports in New England and comes from a family that was successful in business.

Demonstrating a good sense of humor, Rev. Darling entertained his listeners with stories about his first encounters with the club’s president, Michael Hallahan, who happens to reside behind the church. Stating that he was called to his vocation at the tender age of fourteen, the pastor said he attended bible school after high school, and then enrolled in a Christian college. He said that he met his wife, who was originally from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, at a bible camp and that they served in a ministry in Portugal, followed by years of work with teens from Florida to New York. The couple has two children and six grandchildren, with a son continuing to hold a ministry in Portugal. (See full story at www.nhrotary.org)
