Relay for Life Receives North Haven Rotary Club Support

Mary Kate Doherty and Mat Buono accepted a check from the North Haven Rotary Club treasurer, Bill Espowood, for the Relay for Life.

Mary Kate Doherty of the American Cancer Society, and Mathew Buono, an organizer for the area’s  Hamden/North Haven Relay for Life which took place in late June, expressed their sincere thanks for the donation of $400 from the North Haven Rotary Club’s board of directors recently. Doherty thanked the members present for their third annual contribution, as well as for their ongoing support of the Relay for Life. The ACS administrator said that there was a great turnout from the area, adding that the weather was great, too. She reported that the local effort raised $90,000 and praised the efforts of the club’s team of volunteers known as Rotary’s Reliables who raised over $1,200 of that total. North Haven resident, Mat Buono, indicated that this year’s goal had been set at $100,000, but pointed out that since donations will continue to be collected until the end of August, they may reach that goal. Accepting the check from the team’s Co-Captain, Bill Espowood, the guests described the overall event as “extremely successful.”
