Rotary Pancake Breakfast Helps Celebrate Veterans Day

The North Haven Rotary Club raises funds for charity while honoring veterans.

This year’s 4th annual North Haven Rotary Pancake Breakfast is being held on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11th. Most of the club’s nearly 50 members have signed on to work at the popular event in order to raise funds for charitable causes, ranging from local scholarships to relief from Hurricane Sandy. The North Haven Middle School cafeteria is open for breakfast from 8:00 to 1:00 at no charge to veterans, and with a mere $5.00 donation from the public. With a 5K road race from the school sponsored by the area’s new Rotaract Club outside, live musical entertainment, as well as a patriotic program including local dignitaries and an inexpensive book fair are featured in the cafeteria.

The event includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage links, orange juice, and coffee, milk or water. Event Chairman Nick D’Ambrosia has announced that special raffles are available for several items including baskets of sports items, a children's bike, a digital camera, a giant Christmas stocking, and more. Once again, other civic and athletic groups in the community have sold tickets for a share in the fun and a percentage of the profits.
