Five Things You Need to Know Today

The scoop on what's happening in North Haven, 5/18.

1. The budget referendum passed last night by 312 votes. Turnout was low, around 11%, with a total of 1,746 votes cast across five districts and absentee ballots. Check for the breakdown of votes by district, and tune in later today for reactions to the result.

2. The Board of Finance is meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the library. With the passing of the budget last night, the Board will set the mill rate for the year. Also on the agenda: a resolution involving the transfer station fence, and public comment.

3. Green Acres Elementary School's PTA meeting is tonight at 6:30. Voting on the town budget was especially close in the Green Acres district, 93 yes to 81 no.

4. Varsity baseball, softball, and boys and girls tennis all have matches today. Baseball will play Fairfield Prep in an away game, softball will take on West Haven at WHHS, girls tennis will visit Cheshire, and boys tennis will be on home turf against Amity. Check for times.
