Fives Things You Need to Know Today
We give you the scoop on what's happening in North Haven on Tuesday, April 19.
- Two public meetings will be taking place tonight, the first a special meeting of the Board of Fire Commission at 4:00 p.m. in Town Hall, and the second a special meeting of the Board of Selectmen at 5:30 p.m. in Town Hall to discuss arrangements related to the May 17 budget referendum. Both meetings agendas can be found on the town website.
- The veteran's-only Heroes4Hire Job and Career Fair will be held in East Hartford today from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Local veterans are encouraged to hand out resumes to over eighty employers. Additionally, the state’s Vet Express van and the federal V.A. mobile bus will be on-site to provide referrals and help with questions about military services and benefits.
- Vinnie Penn, radio personality for 960 Weli, will be signing copies of his new book DJ Zom-B & The Ungrateful Dead at the Barnes and Nobles on Universal Drive at 6:00 p.m. Those who can't get enough of zombies are encouraged to check it out.

- Three varsity matches are slated for this afternoon, Boys Tennis vs. Career Magnet at 11:00 a.m., Girls Tennis vs. Branford at 2:00 p.m., and Girls Outdoor Track vs. Cheshire, Hillhouse, and Sacred Heart Academy at 11:00 a.m. Go Indians!
- The North Haven Trail Association will be meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center. Come see how you can participate now that hiking weather is back. More details at http://www.northhaventrails.org.
