Foundation Looks To Support Coast Guard Personnel Affected By Hurricane Sandy

Coast Guard Foundation, based in Stonington, raising money for people in service whose lives were affected by October superstorm

The Coast Guard Foundation has announced that it is raising funds to support Coast Guard personnel and family members who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The Stonington-based foundation, which is a non-profit organization with the goal of providing financial support and other assistance to Coast Guard families, will be working with the Coast Guard to distribute funds to Coast Guard members stationed in areas of Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania who suffered losses in the storm.

“Just as we did after Hurricane Katrina, the Coast Guard Foundation is supporting Coast Guard members during their time of need,” Anne B. Brengle, president of the Coast Guard Foundation, said. "There are many great groups offering assistance to those who have been affected by this storm, and we support their work. As an organization, we see the need—and have the resources—to help those who are serving in the United States Coast Guard. They should know that we are here for them and we will do everything we can to support them.”
