Labor Day Weekend
Labor Day has been celebrated on the first Monday of September since the late 1800’s. It was originally a day to recognize American workers but has become a paid day off and signifies the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year for most people. Will you be partying?

School Start Dates
Due to Irene, power outages and clean-up, North Haven public schools will open after Labor Day on September 6.
Full Moon
The full moon this month will fall on Monday, Sept. 12. According to EarthSky, this is the Harvest Moon of 2011 because it is closest to the September equinox. In the past, farmers would stay out late harvesting crops by the light of the harvest moon.
Change of Seasons
Fall officially starts on Sept. 23 this year so summer remains with us for a few more weeks! Enjoy the weather and spend as much time outside as you can.
