"Although I'm grateful for being cancer free for nearly two years since I had surgery on my back, I am even more thankful that an older brother has been able to fend off his issues with leukemia for many years, far more than we ever dreamed. Without question, the greatest treasure in this world is good health, for self and family."

"One week ago, my husband had a rock climbing accident and fell 20 feet in Plainville. His climbing partner called 911 on his cell phone but since he had no house number or address to give them, it took the EMT’s nearly an hour to get to his aid. They had to hike in to their location and it was getting dark when they finally got to my husband. He was groggy after losing consciousness and did not remember much about the climb, but he did remember my cell phone number! The police officer told me they were rushing him to Hartford Hospital. I hung up the phone and started calling all of the “Favorites” on my IPHONE, no one answered! I then called a neighbor who I asked to drive me to the hospital. He said he would, but he was stuck in traffic on the Merritt Parkway, and it would be awhile before we could leave. (This was the same night of the fatal car accident on RT 15.)

"Meanwhile, my husband was rushed into the trauma unit at Hartford Hospital ER where they cut off his clothes and put him in a neck brace. He had an XRAY, which revealed a small compression fracture to one of his vertebrae. “He had no concussion and no internal injuries,” I was told when I finally arrived there. It was a long, uncomfortable night in the ER but after a short stay in the hospital, I am happy to report he is feeling fine and is back at work.  He wears a body brace so his fracture will heal, but he has no pain.  We believe it is a “Christmas miracle” on “Thanksgiving!” My family would like to thank all those who helped with his rescue and care and all those who expressed concern for his health last week.

"Happy Thanksgiving everyone!"

"I love Thanksgiving Day. It is a day without the commercial stress of most other holidays. This Thanksgiving I am most thankful for my five delightful grandkids. Knowing that they are happy and healthy is a gift in itself. My extended family of cousins and in-laws  grows closer as the years go by. Memories of yesteryear include anticipating the arrival of one of my three brothers coming home from military service for the holiday. I always remember them walking in the door in their uniform. Although their visit was brief and their departure sad, it is a pleasant memory.  Presently, a cousin has a son in Afghanistan and I think of him and how he won't be at their table this year. I wish everyone a peaceful day, a plump turkey, warm apple pie, and enough happy memories to last them through the end of the year."

"At times, I find myself asking for God's help with life's trials, big and small. However, when I look around my Thanksgiving table this year I will literally see all of the things He has given me that I didn't ask for.  I am so thankful to have a happy, healthy, loving family and I am so grateful for the bond we share.  Happy Thanksgiving!"
