Due to changes in the North Haven Public Schools vacation schedule for February, the North Haven Memorial Library is advising residents that some programs originally planned for that week — which starts Monday, Feb. 18 — have now changed.
The following is the updated schedule:
• 3rd Annual Cake Decorating Contest
Tuesday, February 19 at 2:00
Ages 5 – 14
Borrow one of our cake pans and decorate or design a cake of your own. Prizes will be awarded in different age categories. Here is your chance to show off your baking talent. Pick up a registration form in the children’s department of the library between January 14 – February 8. LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
• Music with Mr. Joe - New Time

Ages 3 – up
Sing, laugh and learn with children’s music performer and educator Mr. Joe. Fun and interactive!
Mr. Joe’s experience as a DJ led him to discover his natural ability to educate and entertain children with music. Working with a preschool educator, he became involved with the Hamden Youth Services and has been entertaining and educating them for the past four years. He produced his first children’s CD entitled “Sing, Laugh, and Learn” in collaboration with Ronnie Neuhauser. No registration required.

• President Taft Gets Stuck in the Bath (and other strange Presidential facts) - New date
Saturday, February 23 at 10:30 Ages 5 – 11
Local author and newspaper columnist Paul Colella will read about the lives of the U.S. Presidents and the First Ladies focusing on interesting and historical facts about the men and women who lived in the White House. Who was the first president to live in the White House? Who invented ice-cream? Who saved his family from the British? Who invented the swivel chair? Who was the teddy bear named after? Who rode in the first automobile? These questions and facts will be read and discussed in significance to Presidents’ Day. Registration is required and begins on Fri., February 8 at 10 a.m. for residents and Fri., February 15 at 10 a.m. for non-residents.
