Many residents have expressed dismay over the length of time it has taken UI to repair electrical failures in town. At the height of outages, over 7,000 North Haven properties were without power.

However, over the course of this week, the numbers have hovered at a little under 2,000 outages. If the UI sticks to its projected numbers for today, it will mark the most significant improvement in service since the hurricane hit last weekend.

What have been your experiences dealing with the power outages?

Original Story:

According to UI, 17% of North Haven remains without power as of 11:00 a.m. this morning.

Currently, of the town's 11,050 customers, 1,828 lack electricity.

Two days ago, that number was only slightly higher, at 2,431, or 22%.

Residents have reported being given inaccurate restoration times from the company, which is still attempting to restore a little over 39,000 outages region-wide following Hurricane Irene.

North Haven schools have decided to push back their start date from today, September 1, to after Labor Day in order to cope with the widespread outages.

The Town has offered residents a host of services—from public wi-fi to warm showers—to help tide them over until the electricity comes back on.

Stay tuned for more updates from UI.
