North Haven Unemployment Drops

1,127 unemployed in North Haven as of September.

North Haven's unemployment rate dropped slightly from 8.9% in August to 8.5% this month, according to numbers released by the CT Department of Labor. 

Of the town's 13,239-strong labor force, 1,127 are currently unemployed.

Statewide, the unemployment rate decreased from 9.2% in August to 9.0% in September.

Compared to nearby towns, North Haven's unemployment remains lower than East Haven (10.1%) and Hamden (9.4%), and higher than Branford (7.8%) and and Wallingford (8.2%). 

Unemployment for the city of New Haven stands above the statewide average at 13.6%, fourth in the state behind Hartford (16.6%), Waterbury (14.1%), and Bridgeport (13.9%).
