PHOTOS: Malloy Tours Hurricane Damage on Shoreline

Governor views effects of storm at intersection of Cosey Beach Avenue and Coe Avenue in East Haven.

Governor Malloy toured damage on East Haven's shoreline near Cosey Beach Avenue and Coe Avenue.

Malloy, accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, is currently conducting trips throughout the state to appraise the effects of Tropical Storm Irene.

Damage to properties along Cosey Beach Avenue appeared to be significant, with many lots flooded and volunteers attempting to clear some of the fallen foliage.

“It was clear from the preliminary coverage of Hurricane Irene that Connecticut residents sustained a great deal of damage to their property,” said Governor Malloy in a statement. “After touring some of the hardest-hit areas in East Haven and West Haven personally, it’s clear we have our work cut out for ourselves as we begin to fully grasp the damages associated with this storm.”

Following his session in East Haven, the governor planned to proceed to West Haven.

Malloy will issue a briefing on aid efforts in the state tonight at 6:00 p.m.
