Residential Bulk Pick-up to Commence Weeks of April 4 and 11, 2011

Residents can schedule an appointment with the Department of Public Works for a bulk pickup.

First Selectman Michael J. Freda announced today that the Spring Bulk Pick-up Program will begin during the weeks of April 4 and 11, 2011 for all Town of North Haven residents. 

Curbside bulk items collected by the Town will include white goods (refrigerators, freezers, ranges, and appliances); vehicle tires without rims; metal items; and upholstered items (mattresses, box springs, furniture, etc.).  Please note that mixed brush must be taken to the Town's Transfer Station.

“In these difficult economic times, the Town  continues to do its best to provide Town residents with bulk disposal services, which it hopes are the most convenient and cost effective” Selectman Freda stated.  “Public Works staff are committed to providing an organized and efficient April Bulk Collection Program” Freda added.

Residents are asked to contact the Department of Public Works at (203) 239-5321, extension 750 to schedule their bulk pick-up and to provide the Department with the address and associated items to be collected.

Bulk items will continue to be accepted at the Town's Transfer Station located on Universal Drive near the intersection with Sackett Point Road on Tuesday's through Saturday's.  Passes are required for entry into the Transfer Station and are available at the Department of Public Works office.

Residents are reminded that construction and demolition materials are no longer accepted by the Town.  Construction and demolition materials include, building materials, sheetrock, wood, windows and window panes, concrete, brick, sand, gravel, cinder blocks, tile, ceramics, etc.  Nearby options available for the disposal and for a nominal fee include, Valley Sand and Gravel in North Haven (i.e. cement, sand, bricks, gravel, asphalt), Dainty Rubbish in Middletown and after May 1st, Central Connecticut Recycle and Transfer in Cheshire.  Additionally, North Haven permitted commercial haulers that also dispose of construction and demolition wastes include, John's Refuse Removal, All Waste, A.J. Waste Systems, Latella Rubbish Removal, Superior Waste Disposal and TrashMaster.
