What's Going on in North Haven this Week?

Your weekly guide to goings-on in town.

  • High School seniors will graduate Friday in a ceremony scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. Friday is also the last day of school for all grade levels in the town's public schools. Check in for coverage of the day, and congratulations to all the soon-to-be graduates!

 

  • A special Board of Education meeting will take place Tuesday in the high school's gymnasium to address superintendent Robert Cronin's proposal to reduce the town's special education staff. The plan, revealed last week, generated considerable controversy amongst parents, teachers, and local elected officials. State Senator Len Fasano and State Representative Dave Yaccarino went as far as to write a letter rebuking the superintendent. Cronin is meeting with the legislators today to discuss the matter. Stay tuned for developments.

 

  • Only one other town meeting slated for this week: Inland Wetlands will meet Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Recreation Center.

  • The CT Irish Festival will be held this Saturday at the North Haven Fairgrounds from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Expect a day filled with music, contests, Irish crafts, and dancing. For a full description of the event, . Concerns over safety at the fairgrounds have been assuaged by organizers, who say that they will be building fences to keep visitors away from three damaged buildings on the site. 

 

  • The Red Cross will be organizing a blood drive Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 333 State Street. Drop by to donate if you have the time.
