Winter Storm Warning in Effect for North Haven

A late winter storm — expected to bring upwards of three inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain — will impact the area tonight into tomorrow morning, making travel difficult at times.

Spring may be in the air, but don't put those shovels, boots and scrapers away yet.

Early this morning the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for North Haven, as well as much of the rest of the interior of the state, for a storm system that will move into the area later today.

The late winter storm is expected to drop up to some three to six inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain on the region between tonight and tomorrow morning.

Stronger winds are also predicted, with gusts up to 30 miles per hour. The wintry mix and winds will at times reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile.

The snow is expected to begin late this afternoon. It will then mix with sleet overnight, before changing over to all rain early tomorrow morning.

"The accumulation of a light mix of rain on top of a light mix of snow will make travel difficult, especially during the Tuesday morning commute," the meteorologists stated in their advisory.

The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
