Christmas Bird Count, Quinnipiac Valley Audubon Chapter

Please join the Quinnipiac Valley Audubon chapter in participating in the 113th annual Christmas Bird Count.  Our area covers a 15 mile diameter circle with the intersection of routes 68 and 157 as the center.  Included in the count circle are all or parts of the following towns; Durham, Higganum, Killingworth, Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown, Northford, North Guilford, North Haven, and Wallingford.  What we do is count each individual bird, grouped by species, seen that day.  Participants are assigned areas and can count for as long as they wish, 15 minutes or hours!  Some even start at midnight and count owls heard, and bird until dusk! If you live in the circle and feed birds in your yard, but unable to participate in the field, you can do a feeder watch from the comfort of your home.

If you are interested in counting in the field or doing a feeder survey (form attached) please contact Melissa at mbaston@gmail.com before December 15th.

** Please note the location is not Quinnipiac River State Park, but part of the park is included in the count circle.
