Natural Wood: Unique Eco-Style from the Forest

Here are some beautiful eco-friendly wood products for your wedding decor made from found and scavenged trees.

There’s nothing more beautiful than natural wood: unvarnished, lightly adorned, and directly from the forest. Wood is neutral in color so it will complement any palette. Of course, many products on the market are made from felled trees, trees that would have lived for a hundred more years, towering high above. Instead, look for wedding products made from trees that have already fallen. Harvesting this wood doesn’t hurt the ecosystem. In fact, in many cases it frees up space for new growth, reinvigorating the forest with life. Here are some beautiful eco-friendly wood products made from found and scavenged trees. You can also get out there and scavenge your own! Just make sure you’re not bringing any invasive pests to your wedding along with your harvest (beware the emerald ash borer, for example).

These truly original eco invitations are made from fallen pine. Each one is a thin piece of wood, only slightly thicker than a paper invitation. The artwork and wording is completely up to you.

Birch Wood Tea Lights

The wood for these pretty birch candle holders was reclaimed from fallen birch trees, gathered in Portland, Oregon. Because these are made with found materials, each one is special and unique with its own markings and personality. No plants were harmed, no fuels were used for chainsaws, and the forest remains pristine. This is the best possible way to incorporate natural materials into your decorations. These sit low on the table so they won’t obstruct anyone’s view. They’re perfect for offsetting centerpieces made from natural, living materials.

Engraved Wood Ring Box

The wood for these engraved ring boxes comes from blue stain pine, also known as beetle kill pine. It’s harvested from the forest floor in Northern Colorado. These are trees that have been killed by the Mountain Pine Beetle, wood that would otherwise rot and may even infect more trees in the region. Keep your rings safely nestled in heart-shaped felt, inside a special box you can keep forever.
