North Haven Girl to Keep Her Pet Bunny, Freda Says

The New Haven Register reports that North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda will work to change the zoning regulation that forbids rabbits on properties of less than 2 acres.

This bunny tail, it seems, will have a happy ending.

North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda told the New Haven Register on Friday that the town will work to change an ordinance that prohibits rabbits on properties of less than 2 acres, the New Haven Register reports.

Seven-year-old Kayden Lidsky was faced with the prospect of losing her pet bunny, Sandy, and the story went viral. The town received more than 1,000 calls and letters demanding that the girl be allowed to keep her pet.

“We’re trying to simplify the process. Rather than require a waiver, we’re not going to take the rabbit away from the girl,” Freda told the Register.
