North Haven Obituaries: Matthew "Matty" Jacques, 6

Matthew "Matty" Joseph Jacques, the beloved 6-year-old son of Alphonse M. and Melissa Rohloff Jacques of North Haven, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, Manhattan, NY with his loving family by his side. 

Matty was born in New Haven on Jan. 8, 2007, and was a first grade student at Montowese School, North Haven. Matty loved the game of football and baseball: he touched the lives of many in and out of his community and fought a brave and courageous battle with a bright smile and a "thumbs up". 

He was the brother of Nicholas and Tyler Jacques, the grandson of Paul Jacques, Deborah Gaudio, George Rohloff and Claire Purcella Edwards; the great-grandson of Alphonse Gaudio and Norma Jacques and great-great grandson of Mae Gaudio. 

He was the nephew of Nicole, Taylor and Jordan Jacques and the cousin of Gabby Cunha. He also is survived by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

Family and friends are invited to go directly to the Dunbar United Church of Christ, 419 Dunbar Hill Rd., Hamden, Wednesday morning, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. to attend a funeral service and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
