Andrew Kovacs, 61

Andrew Kovacs, 61, of North Haven, beloved husband of Brenda (Alexander) Kovacs, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Andrew was born in Bridgeport: son of the late Andrew and Anna (Nazarijchuk) Kovacs, Sr. He was a postal worker; an avid gardener; enjoyed the New York Yankees and UCONN Girls and Boys Basketball; was an avid reader and loved family gatherings and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Andrew is the devoted father of Heather (Kovacs) Miles and her husband Jeff of Middletown; Kristen (Kovacs) Burr and her husband Brian of Wallingford, Amanda Kovacs and her fiancé Jonathan Wetmore of Derby. He is also the step-father of Eric Pantalone of Cincinnati, OH and Melissa (Pantalone) Waldo and her husband Kenneth of Orange. He is the loving grandfather of Cameron, Andrew and Haley Miles; Alex, Kelsey and Talan Burr; Benjamin and Sophie Pantalone, and Tyler Waldo. Andrew is survived by his brother, Stephen Kovacs of Darien; his sisters, Carol Flathers, and her husband Richard of Ansonia and Mary Kovacs of Westport. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 11:00. Interment will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 pm.

Louis J. DeFelice, 80

Louis J. DeFelice, 80, of North Haven passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the CT Hospice, Branford surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of Lottie (Paier) DeFelice.

Born in New Haven on August 17, 1931; son of the late Crescenzo “James” DeFelice and Nancy (Acomfora) DeFelice Giovannitti. Mr. DeFelice graduated Hillhouse High School, New Haven and was a construction superintendent for many years in Connecticut. Father of Anthony DeFelice, Diane (DeFelice) Scalise. Grandfather of Katelyn DeFelice. Brother of Joseph Giovannitti and the late John F. and Frank DeFelice.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, MONDAY morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be SATURDAY from 3 to 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

Flora H. Schannon, 90

Flora H. Schannon, 90 of  Branford, formerly of 12 Sonne Dr., North Haven, died Aug. 24, 2011.

She is survived by two sons Mark (Pam) and Scott (Mo) Schannon, a sister Lynn (Herb) Steb and two granddaughters Samantha and Sara Schannon. She was predeceased by a daughter Cynthia Schannon and a brother Frank Hudik. She lived every moment of life with grace, spirit and tenacity.   

Funeral service at the Congregation Mishkan Israel, 785 Ridge Rd., Hamden, CT,  Thursday at 10am. The interment will be in the Cedar Park Cemetery, Emerson, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to her favorite charity Animal Haven, 89 Mill Rd., North Haven, CT 06473.
