Carmel Parisi Panagrossi

Carmel Parisi Panagrossi, of North Haven, beloved wife of 67 years of the late Amedeo "Ahmed" Panagrossi passed away Sept. 22, 2011 at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center after a brief illness.

Loving mother of Marie Diamond, Anne Rickards and her husband Clinton, Philip Panagrossi, John Panagrossi and his wife Janis. Grandmother of Michael Panagrossi, Jennifer Wassmer, Melissa Veleber, Jonathan Panagrossi, Robert Panagrossi, Clinton Rickards II, Lisa Scrofani, Jessica Rickards and Kelly Rickards. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren, a sister Margaret Alea, and a brother Vincent Parisi. She was predeceased by brothers William, Henry, Augustine, and Joe Parisi and sisters Anna Dombrowski, Julia Pellegrino, Angelina Parisi, and son in law Francis Diamond. 

She was born in New Haven April 28, 1915 a daughter of the late Paul and Maria Pellegrino Parisi, graduated from the Hospital of St. Raphael School of Nursing in 1936, and was a visiting nurse and school nurse in the New Haven area. Carmel was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed her membership at the Wallingford Country Club and the High Lane Club. She was one of the founders of the Meadowbrook Women's Golf League. She and her husband loved to play bridge and co-taught bridge in the North Haven Adult Education Program, and traveled extensively throughout the world. 

Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN Monday morning Sept. 26 at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in St. Rita Church Hamden at 10 a.m. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Betty J. Ciach DiTolla

Betty J. Ciach DiTolla, 89, of North Haven, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was the wife of the late Harry DiTolla.

Born in Easthampton, MA on October 30, 1921; daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette Smiechowska Ciach. Betty had lived in North Haven since 1957; had worked as an embroiderer with her late husband and was an active parishioner of St. Therese Church. Mother of Harry S. DiTolla of Plainville and the late Carol Ann DiTolla. Grandmother of J. Christopher (Vicki) DiTolla and Kimberly Ann (Douglas) Partridge. Great-grandmother of Cameron, Evan and Nicole Partridge, Kayla, Lyndsey and Emma DiTolla. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Ann Fichtmueller DiTolla; sisters Helen Zawacki, Cecilia Pepka and a brother Joseph Ciach, Jr.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm.

Audrey Zimmerman Connery

Audrey Zimmerman Connery, 84 of Evergreen Woods, North Branford, formerly of North Haven died Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Evergreen Woods Health Center.

She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Joseph Connery. Mrs. Connery was born in Chicago, IL on February 4, 1927 a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Zimmerman. She was a graduate of Northwestern University, Summa Cum Laude, 1948 with a B.S in Chemistry, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Mrs. Connery was active as a volunteer in Hamden and North Haven, including at St. Rita's School in Hamden, and at one of the first charitable thrift shops, the U.S.S. Hope Shop in Hamden in the 1960's and 1970's. She was an avid craftsperson, and she produced many embroidered, needlepoint, and crocheted items which were donated for sale by local charities.

Mrs. Connery is survived by her son Brian (Marlene Mears) Connery of Rochester Hills, MI, her sister, Elaine Montgomery of Hendersonville, NC, and two grandchildren, Brendan Mears Connery, and Carina Mears Connery of Rochester Hills.   THERE WILL BE NO CALLING HOURS. Relatives and friends are invited to go directly to St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Road, Branford on Saturday for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
