On Tonight: Rob, 30 Rock and The Finder

It's time for Thursday night TV.

Thursday, Jan. 12

Rob, 8:30 p.m., CBS

Rob Schneider. You either love him or you hate him, I think. Me, not love. In this sitcom, he marries into a Hispanic family and hijinks, much of them racially based, ensue. Good luck.

30 Rock, 8 p.m., NBC

It’s back, it’s back, I am so happy because it is back!!! Tonight, “Jack questions the family value of the network's new talent competition; Tracy gets frustrated at his inability to upset Liz; Kenneth prepares for the Rapture.” And yes, they plan to cover the storyline of Avery being kidnapped by Kim Jong Il in the wake of his death.

The Finder, 9 p.m., Fox

Remember spin-offs? Like, pretty much the whole 1980s? Well, leave it to Fox to try to revive it (have there been any spin-offs since the CSI and L&O mania of a few years back?) This is a Bones spin-off, although not really because it was a single episode of Bones and not recurring characters (a la Frasier, for example). Anyway, “Iraq veteran Walter Sherman helps a teenage boy locate his missing father, a military pilot who vanished while on a mission; Leo and Walter keep a watchful eye on a teen parolee.”

About this column: With so many channels and so little time, it's hard to know what to watch on TV every night. Elissa Bass is here to help you decide.
