Alleged Electronics Thief Apprehended in Dumpster

Two New Haven teens arrested in connection to Saturday theft.

Two New Haven teens were arrested Saturday in connection to a failed robbery at the BJ's Store on Universal Drive.

During the afternoon, store security alerted police that they had witnessed a lone male wheeling a cart filled with computers and televisions towards a fire exit. When security approached the man, he fled into the Rave Movie Theater parking lot across the street, abandoning the merchandise in the process.

Later, Jaquan Garner, 18, of New Haven was found hiding in a dumpster near the theater. A second man, Teddy Cornelius, 19, of  New Haven was also apprehended in the area when police stopped the car he was driving.

Both were charged with larceny in the third degree and conspiracy to commit the same. A court date for both suspects is scheduled for August 25.
