Football Brawl Leads to Two Arrests

Police charge two with breach of peace.

A late-night argument in a Universal Drive bar over Monday's Pittsburgh vs. San Francisco football game escalated to include thrown furniture, a broken TV, and two arrests, North Haven PD report. 

According to a statement issued by the police department, Brian Hacket, 19, of North Haven was watching the game with John Sackett, 25, of West Haven when the two became involved in a disagreement concerning the action on field. 

Tempers flared, leading Hacket to throw a bar stool into the air, where it collided with a wall-mounted plasma screen television.

As staff restrained Hacket, Sackett walked over and punched him in the face. 

Hacket was charged with breach of peace, and criminal mischief, where Sackett was charged with assault in the third degree, and breach of peace.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on January 5. 

San Francisco beat Pittsburgh 20-3.
