There is the problem George, how do you prove the "abuse' you speak of? Is he getting a call from dispatch or making a call to headquarters? Is he speaking with a complainant from a prevous job who called him? Can anyone show numbers of incidents when usage caused an accident?

Exactly Richard, but at the same time, how do they know I'm not on an "exempted' call. I would have to prove it...... Maybe that should fall on their supervisors to investigate. They are not above the law they are enforcing, yet they have no issue with bagging people for doing the same thing. I also doubt highly they are any better qualified to handle a vehicle while on a phone then anyone else. I also highly doubt you will see numbers of officer involved accidents while cellphones were being used.

The notion that PO's are above the law, or that they believe the rules of society don't apply to them (or their families, vis-a-vis the little stickers that are applied to their car window in the event of a traffic stop), or that they qualify for special treatment (free meals, coffee, parking in no parking zones, illegal fireworks, etc.) is an old story, and yet it persists. One has to ask: why is this? I had a cop tell me that he believes "there are cops, and there are potential criminals", nothing in between. It would seem that cops have some work to do (on themselves) to change the perception.

Almost every driver can be given a ticket at any time, for exceeding the speed limit, cell texting , cell talking, rolling through stop signs, ...
