Dry Air, Winds Could Lead to Fires

A red flag warning is in effect for North Haven and much of the state Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m.

A red flag warning will be in effect today in East Haven, as well as much of the rest of the state, from noon to 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service reports that dry weather and gusty winds — 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts up to 20 miles per hours — will result in critical fire weather conditions.

"A mild and generally dry air mass continues to promote favorable conditions for fire spread," the meterologists report.

This early spring's dry conditions has led to fire warnings off and on throughout much of this month, with weather officials concerned about the possible spread of wild fires.
