A fire reported shortly after midnight caused mostly smoke and water damage to a house in the Montowese section of town, but the occupants were not hurt, firefighters reported.
A Fire Department spokesman said three fire companies responded to 20 Frost Drive following the report of the fire at 12:06 a.m. An elderly couple living at the house got out before firefighters arrived.
The spokesman said the fire originated in an enclosed porch at the rear of the house. Fire damage was contained to the porch.
