VIDEO: Firefighters Parade Highlights
Patch was there to watch the grand finale of the Connecticut State Fire Association's convention.
Hundreds of firefighters marched in Sunday’s parade honoring the firefighting companies of Connecticut. Some carried axes with gleaming silver blades; others carried baskets of red, white, and blue flowers. Some marched in step with the marching bands or fife and drum corps; other walked casually and waved to groups of spectators.
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, and State Sen. Len Fasano were among the elected officials also in the parade.
Featured in the parade were new and restored classic fire trucks and ambulances, the Governor’s Horse Guard, several fife and drum corps dressed in colonial garb, and local businesses.
