Knife Wielding Man Tasered in Cemetary

Man is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation pending criminal charges.

North Haven Police received a call Wednesday afternoon alerting them to a disturbance in All Saint's Cemetery on Middletown Avenue.

When officers arrived they discovered a 49 year old New Haven man brandishing a 16" blade. When the police approached, the man grew upset, and began to walk towards a group of cemetery workers and visitors with the knife drawn.

After repeated commands to drop the knife failed to elicit a response from the man, police officers were forced to subdue him with a non-lethal bean bag projectile and a taser.

The man was subsequently taken into protective custody, and delivered to the Hospital of St. Raphael's for a psychiatric evaluation.

Criminal charges are pending, contingent on the state of the man's mental health.
