Man Collared for First Degree Strangulation

Police report two North Haven arrests.

Detective Captain James Merrithew of the North Haven Police Department reported this afternoon that Todd Bailey, 47, of Saint John Street was arrested last night on charges of strangulation in the first degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful restraint in the first degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.

The charges were filed yesterday after a woman, 48, was admitted to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. Doctors at the hospital summoned the police, who heard testimony that the woman had been struck by her boyfriend, whom she was visiting in town.

Bailey was arraigned this morning, and is being held on a $150,000 bond.

In other police news, two Wallingford men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of twenty-two cases of Red Bull energy drinks from the BJ's Warehouse in North Haven.

Scott Hesse, 30, and Brad Williams, 28, are accused of shuttling the drinks out of the store through a fire exit.

Both men were charged with larceny in the fifth degree, and conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree. They were released without bond on a promise to appear in court on March 31.

Finally, no news has yet been released from the autopsy of the 41-year-old man found dead in his car at Wharton Brook State Park yesterday. Both the identity of the man, as well as his cause of death, is expected to be disclosed later today.
