North Haven Firefighters to Get 'Buzzed' for St. Baldrick's

Nine members of the North Haven Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 2987 are going beyond the regular calls for help on March 1 as they will have their heads shaved to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation. 

Firefighter Scott Garbati is the team captain and he will be joined by fellow firefighters Anna Filosi, Ben Fox, Scott Martus, Tom Haggerty, Ronald Prisco, Scott Golde, Richard Filosi and John Bysko

The group will have their locks buzzed because, according to St. Baldrick's website, "kids with cancer often lose their hair during treatment, and we stand proudly bald beside them. But the true goal–to cure childhood cancer–will be accomplished because, while shaving, we raise funds for lifesaving childhood cancer research."

The North Haven team has set a fundraising goal of $1,500 and currently has raised $1,490. Many local fire departments — including East Haven and North Branford — are participating in Friday's event, tentatively scheduled to be held at O'Toole's Irish Bar in New Haven.
