North Haven Police Make Heroin Bust

Neighbors' complaints lead to search warrant, which leads to arrest for heroin possession for one man

A North Haven man was arrested on drug charges Monday after residents' complaints about a neighbor's suspicious activities brought police to his home with a search warrant.

According to a press release, the police executed the search warrant Monday at 5 Monroe St., a single-family rental property.

"During the month of August North Haven officers received complaints from residents who described suspicious activity in their neighborhood.  Officers from the North Haven Police Department conducted an investigation culminating with the issuance of a search warrant," the release stated.

North Haven's narcotic K-9, Koda, was used to search the home, police said.  Koda along with her handler, Officer Cantele, located a package of Heroin that was wrapped with tape and sealed in a zip locked bag, the release said.  Investigators found 60 individual bags of Heroin within the package, police said.

Christopher Riccitelli, 42, was charged with Possession of Narcotics, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics.  He was held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden's Superior Court on October 4, 2012.
