North Haven Police Officer Hit By a Car as Suspects Flee

A scary situation in North Haven last night, as a police officer was injured when he was hit by a car as two thieves attempted to leave the scene of the crime, the New Haven Register reports. 

What started as a larceny quickly escalated as two people are accused of stealing fragrances from Alta Store, 370 North Universal Drive, on Monday night, the Register reports. 

The man allegedly put bottles in a female’s purse and they took off in a gray BMW just as police arrived, the Register reports.

The officer was struck as he attempted to get out of the way of the car and was taken to a local hospital, police told the Register. 

The BMW was last seen on Interstate 91 and got off Exit 6 on Willow Street, police said. The first three characters of the license plate are “1AG” the Register reports.
