North Haven Woman Identified as Victim in Fatal Route 9 Accident

According to report, the 22-year old was not in a car at the time of the crash in Berlin.

The car crash , claimed the life of a 22-year old woman from North Haven.

The woman, Amanda Cartier, was not in one of the cars according to the official accident report released to Berlin Patch by the Connecticut State Police.

The accident, which was originally dispatched as a car versus pedestrian to the East Berlin Fire Department according to Chief Keith Morton, was actually a three-car accident.

The victim was not ejected out of a car, as once thought by emergency personnel. Cartier was found down a 30-foot embankment on the side of the road according to Morton. She was extricated by a technical rope rescue.

The accident report also stated that the driver of one of the cars and an infant passenger were taken to Hartford Hospital with injuries. Another driver did not receive medical treatment at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
